Synopsis/Summary: To repeal and reenact Section 17-14-70, Code of Alabama 1975, relating to the division of the state into congressional districts, so as to redistrict the state's congressional districts based upon the 2010 federal census.
League Action and Justification: LWVAL is monitoring SB484. The League supports reapportionment that is based primarily on the one-person, one-vote criterion with consideration given to racial and ethic diversity. It also believes that the public is better represented when districts are drawn in a manner that respects existing political boundaries.
