green-right-arrow.jpgHB259 - Candidates may file statement of economic interest up  to 5 days after qualifying to run Section 36-25-15, am’d

Sponsor(s):  Representative Fincher

Synopsis and Analysis:  Under existing law, a candidate is required to file a statement of economic interests with the State Ethics Commission at the same time the candidate qualifies to run for office. This bill would provide that a candidate may file a statement of economic interests not more than five days after the candidate qualifies to run for office.

League Action and Justification: Monitor. LWVAL supports the submission of statements of economic interest for elected public officials and candidates for public offices, but does not specify a time frame for submission.
