How can I restore my voting rights in Alabama?
Have your voting rights been removed due to a previous conviction? You may be eligible to have your voting rights restored if you:
- do not have a conviction for certain crimes of moral turpitude,
- do not have any pending felony cases,
- do not owe court ordered monies on disqualifying cases,
- do not owe any supervision fees, and
- are not currently under sentence.

- Any person may register to vote, provided that he or she:
      is a citizen of the United States;
      resides in Alabama;
      is at least 18 years old on or before election day;
      has not been barred from voting due to a disqualifying felony conviction;
      and has not been declared mentally incompetent by a court. - Voter registration applications must be postmarked, hand-delivered to the Board of Registrars, or submitted at a participating agency-based voter registration location no later than 14 days before an election.
- There is no minimum residency time limit for registration in Alabama. (An applicant may register to vote the same day that he/she moves into the state.)
- A person does not declare affiliation with a political party when registering to vote.
- A person must re-register if he/she has moved to another county.
- A person must fill out a Voter Registration Update Form or Voter Registration Form If he/she has moved within the county (even down the street!) or has not voted in more than 8 years.
