League of Women Voters of Alabama
encourages
Governor Ivey to participate in a candidate forum Mobile, AL – The League of Women Voters of Alabama, in keeping with its mission to educate voters, is planning a televised gubernatorial candidate forum. Invitations have been sent to candidates from each political party. Democrat Walt Maddox has agreed to participate, but Republican Kay Ivey has not yet responded. “I call upon Governor Ivey to take advantage of this opportunity to tell the voters of Alabama where she stands on issues important to them,” said Barbara Caddell, League President. “There is still time to respond.” The League of Women Voters of Alabama is a nonpartisan organization devoted to providing unbiased information to voters; they believe that a face-to-face comparison of candidates’ positions on issues gives voters the best opportunity to judge a candidate’s fitness for office. “In essence, a candidate forum is a job interview,” said Caddell, “Who wants to hire a job applicant without an interview?” ###
