President's Message

As is often the case, April through June will be busy months for many people. The League calendar is full also with end-of-the-year meetings. This issue contains all of the information you will want to consider before you come to the Annual Business Meeting. The bylaws require that you receive reports from the Nominating, Bylaws, Budget, and Program Committees one month in advance of the meeting.

On May 15th the LWVAL will hold it’s one-day state council in Tuscaloosa. Any and all members are welcome to attend. Kay Ivey, State Treasurer, will speak at the luncheon. Four workshops will be conducted in the afternoon. Please contact me or any board member if you are interested in attending.

In June the national convention will be held in Washington, D.C. This is an excellent experience for new and long-time members. Combine it with a vacation trip to Washington with your family or just use it for a grownup getaway. Information about this meeting is on the LWVUS website. You can also contact me for details.

So you can see that opportunities for involvement range from several hours (Annual Meeting at the Art Museum, through a day in Tuscaloosa (State Council) to several days in Washington (National Convention.)
